The second weekend in December each year, Christ United Methodist Church is transformed into a one-day store filled with things Brossoit, Barrett and other volunteers purchase with donated money, coupons, bargain-hunting and a little bit of old-fashioned entreaty. I think people don t know how big a need there is in Rochester for organizations like this, Brossoit said. Christmas Anonymous lets parents who couldn t otherwise afford gifts get some surprises for their children. For a lot of families, we re the only present for a lot of kids, Brossoit said. The scraps of gift wrap have barely been picked up off the floor when they hit the post-christmas sales, shopping for next year s recipients. They are Christmas Anonymous volunteers, and their specialty is selecting gifts for teens. They give gifts away just before Christmas, then get ready to shop all over again the day after Christmas.
